PDRA Mid-Atlantic Showdown Adjusts Schedule Ahead of Weather Front at Virginia Motorsports Park

Ashburn, Virginia — Organizers of the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) Mid-Atlantic Showdown are pushing forward with the weekend’s event at Virginia Motorsports Park despite an approaching weather front, announcing several schedule adjustments on Tuesday to keep the show on track.

In an official update released Tuesday morning, PDRA officials confirmed that while a weather system is expected to impact the area, the third stop on the 2026 tour will proceed with modified timing to maximize racing opportunities.

Pre-race testing will kick off the event on Thursday, offering two runs for all categories and groups. Following the conclusion of testing, anticipated around 2:15 p.m., the track will be prepared for an estimated 3:00 p.m. start to Round 1 of qualifying for all categories.

One of the most notable changes involves the junior dragsters, who will run last in the qualifying order. This adjustment allows participants to attend school and arrive at the track afterward. All other portions of the schedule will shift forward accordingly to accommodate the new Thursday timeline.

Event officials acknowledged that the phrase “schedule subject to change” is likely to be invoked multiple times throughout the weekend as hourly weather patterns remain fluid.

“We are going to put our best foot forward and push forward at this time,” the update stated. “This will be a weekend that ‘schedule subject to change’ will more than likely come into effect a few times, but we are going to put our best foot forward for the racers, teams, fans and everyone else involved… We are moving forward and looking forward to the third race on tour this season.”
