Pritchett Powers to Second Win, Worsham Back in the Winners’ Circle at IHRA Spring Nationals

HEBRON, Ohio — The 2026 IHRA Spring Nationals wrapped up this weekend at Darana Raceway, and the nitro classes delivered exactly the kind of drama drag racing fans expect from a national event. Gary Pritchett and Del Worsham emerged as the biggest stories, each driving home with a $50,000 check and the distinctive IHRA Ironman trophy after thrilling final-round battles.

In Top Fuel, No. 2 qualifier Gary Pritchett continued his strong season by claiming his second victory of the year. Pritchett clocked a 3.063-second, 285.53 mph pass in the final to defeat Cameron Ferre. Ferre had the better reaction time but couldn’t keep the car hooked up down the track. Pritchett had already taken out Scott Palmer in the quarters and Lex Joon in the semis on his way to the big check.

Funny Car belonged to Del Worsham. The veteran in the Toyota Camry, who sat No. 1 after a 3.291-second, 272.23 mph qualifying shot, went 3.321 at 267.06 mph in the final (.032 reaction) to turn back John Bodie Smith (3.594, 249.45). Worsham methodically dispatched Jody Austin and Terry Haddock earlier in the day, proving once again why he’s a perennial threat when the big money is on the line.

Other nitro and alcohol highlights included:

• Outlaw Pro Mod: Bubba Stanton edged Randy Weatherford on a holeshot (.044 to .183), running 3.522 at 216.03 mph to Weatherford’s quicker-but-late 3.530 at 216.94.
• Mountain Motor Pro Stock: Matt Giangrande’s .018 light and 4.078-second pass at 177.17 mph held off Jerry Tucker, who ran quicker at 4.043/178.71 but left on a .125.
• Nitro Harley: Jordan Peterson’s lightning .002 reaction time carried him to a 4.325 at 151.11 mph win over GT Tonglet.
• Top Alcohol Dragster: Joey Severance capped a solid weekend with a 3.481 at 222.99 mph victory over Jamie Noonan.
• Top Alcohol Funny Car: Tony Bogolo advanced when Phil Esz red-lit (-.059) in the final.
• Pro Mod: Jason Harris took the all-Jason final when Jason Lee left -.095 early.
• IHRA Factory Pro Stock: Taylor Dietsch snapped Tony Scott’s three-race win streak, 4.903 at 147.44 mph to Scott’s 4.954 at 143.63.
• Fuel Altered: Ryan Hill finally broke through for his first win of the season, running 3.526 at 224.55 mph after Paul Miller struggled off the line.
• Snowmobile: David Marshall (4.586 at 147.83) defeated Anthony Mini.
• John Holt Hemi Showdown: Steve Comella won when James Daniels red-lit (-.003).
